  2. Will your product work on Mac systems?

No. The product is optimally designed to be used on the Windows VISTA and XP operating systems in order to take full advantage of the automatic launch feature, however older versions of Windows that allow the installation of the Microsoft .NET Framework will also be able to access the full capabilities of the Living Record. At this time the product is not compatible with a Mac operating system.

  3. What is the Document Library?

Our unique Document Library feature allows you to store important personal information such as medical reports, lab results, CAT scan and MRI reports, hospital reports, your eyeglass prescription, your Living Will- even a copy of your passport!

With the aid of your scanner, you’ll be able to store and organize up to 200 megabytes of data into your Living Record’s Document Library. If you require even more storage capacity, contact us to inquire about the purchase of a new flash drive with twice the storage capacity (all your data can be safely transferred).

No, but it’s advisable. An internet connection is necessary to register your product and to obtain periodic software updates from us.

  5. Must I have a scanner to use The Living Record?

You can still create a detailed personal health summary, but a scanner is necessary to convert hard-copy documents to electronic in order to download them from your computer to your Living Record flash drive device.

It is necessary to first scan documents and store them on your computer’s hard drive, and then copy them from your computer’s files to your Living Record flash drive. We suggest that you create a folder on your computer’s “desktop” entitled “Living Record Document Library” and scan anything you wish to have in your Living Record directly to this folder.

Your Living Record’s wizard will help you transfer those files onto your device. When you click “browse”, you’ll be able to locate your stored files in the “Living Record Document Library” folder you’ve created.

  6. Why do we ask you to complete a Registration Page?

Completion of our product’s registration page is not required, but strongly encouraged. The Living Record has a unique “phone home” feature** that allows your device to link up with us so that we may provide you with periodic software updates.

Please be assured that we respect your right to privacy; we cannot view any of your stored information and we do not share with anyone the information you have given us on the Registration Page.

We want your Living Record device to serve your needs to the fullest. Through our e-mail, feel free to contact us with additional content suggestions, revisions and additions. We have the ability through our “phone home” technology to update your device with owner-driven enhancement suggestions. Registration is necessary to enable us to perform these product improvements.

  8. How can I get a replacement device if my flash drive device is lost or broken? Will I have to re-enter all my information?

If you have saved all your data on your computer’s hard drive, our “Restore Button” will re-write all your saved data to your new Living Record flash drive. Our flash drive devices are preloaded with programming data; therefore, an ordinary blank flash drive cannot be used with the Living Record. Please contact us at help@thelivingrecord.com requesting a replacement drive. The replacement cost is $60 plus shipping and any applicable sales tax (GA residents only).

  9. What documents do you recommend we “Hide” in the Document Library?

It is your decision as to what documents to have available for general viewing by your doctor or emergency personnel and what documents to “hide” for viewing only with a password. Any documents that are of a sensitive nature should probably be hidden. Bear in mind that hiding all your test reports and medical documents from your doctor’s view may hinder the ability to acquire needed information in the event of an emergency.
